Chewing Gums

Chewing gum is the star of the lastest body of work by brilliant Notting Hill artist Misha Milovanovich whose usually colourful work revolves around surrealism and the re-working of found objects. The Chewing Gum Series are drawings of gum she has found stuck underneath benches, tables, handrails and escalators. We hope she wore Marigolds. Misha says of all the abandoned bits of chewed synthetic rubber dotted around that: “Chewing gum represents colourful viruses of our consumer culture.” Misha has taken the blobs of gum and made them, strangely, incredibly beautiful. Like all Misha’s work of found objects, she hopes they are full of “optimism and the potential for positive change.”
